Graduation Party Planning At Its Best

bombinizz 236x300 Graduation Party Planning At Its BestIt’s that bittersweet time of year again – yes, graduation season! You are so proud of your children for successfully graduating, and yet you are sad to see them grow up so fast. In any case, it is time to celebrate their achievement! Whether it’s graduating from preschool, kindergarten, middle school, high school or college, your kids are on their way to bigger and better things.

We can show you how to throw the best do-it-yourself party and create the right atmosphere at any venue. Just follow some of these great graduation party planning tips and you will be the talk of the town:

Invitations: The most important detail of throwing a party is sending out your invitations! In this day and age invites can be done electronically or by mail. Just because you decide to email your invitations, that does not mean they have to be boring. Whichever route you choose, try using photos of your graduate and classmates surrounded by their school colors. For high school grads you can theme it like a college acceptance letter… “Congratulations, you have been accepted to attend Sally’s graduation party!”

Decorations: Again, light up your venue with colorful balloons and table settings themed around the school colors. Use miniature chalkboards with the names of your guests as place settings. Place photos of the graduate and his/her classmates all over walls and tables. Make it a feast for your party-goers’ eyes.

Music and Entertainment: Get the party started and keep your guests entertained with the right music! Kindergarten and preschool graduates may enjoy music they can move along to like the chicken dance and other fun tunes. For the older graduates, the playlist should include memorable songs from their last few years in school. Create a cool video montage of photos from the past school year’s events and set it to this music.

Cake/Dessert: If you decide to go with the classic cake, embellish it with a photo of the graduation class. For the smaller dessert bites, create some chocolate-rolled diplomas. Also, right now cake pops are all the craze, how about some graduation cap cake pops!

“For Keepsake”: Have everyone at the party sign a giant poster that your graduate can then display on the wall in his/her room, especially a dorm room! Place a large graduation cap, markers and some paper in the center of your table with instructions for everyone to write a special note on what they will miss about their graduate friend or just school memories in general. For the little ones who are not great spellers, they can add cute drawings. If you want to brag about your graduate, set up an accomplishment cube at each table that states all his/her great academic and athletic achievements.

Favors/Gifts: How about a Bombinizz bag! Those high school graduates sure could use a place to put their dorm room pillow and necessities when they travel off to their college dorm room. You can always add some fun stuff in the bags too: CDs, silly gadgets, school supplies, toiletries, a themed pillow case, etc.

Don’t forget to have plenty of food and drinks available, it’s always better to have leftovers than to have hungry guests! And finally, some house parties can run quite late, if you plan on having people sleep over – don’t forget your Bombinizz. From pillows, toiletries to extra clothes, the Bombinizz is the perfect carry-all bag for a variety of your sleepover needs.

Packing for Camp Made Easy

the pillow bag 150x150 Packing for Camp Made EasyCamp season is around the corner! Good for you if you are ahead of the game and your child is already registered for summer camp. If you’ve chosen sleepaway camp, then one of your next important steps is making sure your camper is packed and prepared for a great summer experience. We know packing can be stressful, but if you can follow these easy tips, you are sure to feel more at ease when your child is away for that week or more.

  • Clothing and Accessories: Include pieces that cover all types of weather and temperatures, as well as activities they will partake in. The days can be hot, nights can be cool and unfortunately sometimes there is rain. Necessary items are bathing suits, sandals, sneakers, boots, hats, sunglasses, long & short sleeve tops, sweatpants, sweatshirts, a jacket, pajamas and of course plenty of underwear and socks.
  • Toiletries: Pack things your child uses on a daily basis such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hairbrush and accessories. Some older campers may want to consider bringing cosmetics, shaving supplies, deodorant and feminine products.
  • Sleeping Aids: A child may have a favorite stuffed animal, pillow or blanket they like to sleep with. This can be very comforting to a homesick camper.
  • Sunscreen: It is key to avoid that painful sunburn, so a waterproof sunscreen with a minimum of 15 to 30 SPF is essential. A soothing cream with Aloe vera is also great when that unfortunate sunburn does develop.
  • Bug Repellent: There are numerous different lotions and sprays that help deter unwanted bugs, choose one that you feel is safe for your child to apply.
  • Sports Equipment: If you know your child will be participating in certain sports, bring the necessary equipment, gear and clothing that goes along with those activities.
  • Miscellaneous: Some fun and entertaining items to bring can be a camera, games, books, magazines, toys, etc.

Don’t be afraid to call the camp ahead of time and ask what items they provide, and be sure to label everything! And last but not least…don’t forget your Bombinizz. From pillows to stuffed animals, toiletries to camp gear, the Bombinizz is the perfect carry-all bag for a variety of your camper’s needs.

Great Fall Getaways

“Kids are back in school and work is back on track. However, now is the ideal time to visit popular summer destinations as prices, crowds and temperatures drop. Additionally, this season also highlights spectacular fall foliage and fun festivals. Take some time to enjoy the best nature has to offer.”
Maria Rosell, Owner and Founder of Bombinizz®

Here’s a list of great fall getaways in cities throughout North America:

San Francisco: From navigating down crooked Lombard Street to the Golden Gate Bridge, to cable cars over the city’s hills to the Ghirardelli Square, this off-peak destination affords fun for all. And, don’t forget to visit the Japanese Tea Garden and the Golden Gate Park.

Chicago: A trip to Chicago can have chilly weather, but if you enjoy more fall-like temperatures, you can visit on a budget. Flights are generally inexpensive and affordable rooms are in abundance. While you’re here, visit the famous Buckingham Fountain, Navy Pier, Millennium Park and Sears Tower to name a few.

Las Vegas: Las Vegas is American’s playground and is especially appealing in the fall with comfortable temperatures, affordable airfare and cheap rooms. Walk the Strip to experience everything from amazing shopping to fun gambling and more.

New York City: Grab a bite of the Big Apple and catch the splendor of Central Park’s foliage, the glitz of a Broadway show, or start your holiday shopping in trendy SoHo. Either way, there’s something for everyone, including the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Vancouver: As the leaves drop, so do the hotel rates. Enjoy some of the city’s top things to do like a brisk walk through Stanley Park, or a strenuous hike up Grouse Mountain. This city offers a great deal in outdoor activities.

Austin: Living up to its reputation as the “Live Music Capital of the World,” this city offers an excellent nightlife, in addition to beautiful parks and relaxing coffee houses. And, fans of college football should check out the Longhorns as they play at the historic Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Boston: With the chill of fall in the air, it’s the ideal time to stroll the Freedom Trail, Boston Common and Boston Public Garden. Or, rent a car and head to Concord or Fitchburg for some first-rate foliage.

Savannah: Southern hospitality at its finest is found at romantic bed and breakfasts and historic inns. Enjoy the beautiful architecture and amazing comfort food, as well as a variety of fall jazz and film festivals.

Yellowstone: Experience the gorgeous transformation from summer to fall in this famous park. Old Faithful is sure to leave an impression any time of the year. However, due to fewer crowds, fewer park amenities may be available.

Now that you have some ideas on where to go, pack your belongs in a Bombinizz™. With a variety of fabrics to choose from, the Bombinizz™ is the perfect carry-all for your getaway needs. Its large main compartment is ideal for toiletries, clothing, shoes and more. And, with its outer pocket, you can store easy-to-reach items such as a cell phone, iPod and more.

Fall is Perfect for a Picnic

“Fall is our favorite time of year for a picnic. The air is crisp, and the sky is clear and blue. The wildlife and birds seem to take pleasure by relaxing in the cool air and sparkling sun. It’s the perfect time for a leisurely road trip through the countryside. Whether you enjoy apple picking or visiting a pumpkin patch, there’s something for everyone and every appetite. There’s really no better time to picnic then now, and here are some tips to get you started.”

Tips for an enjoyable picnic:

Safety first: If you are with children, keep them away from busy roads, deep water and cliffs.

Clean-up made easy: Bring a disposable, plastic tablecloth. This not only ensures your food is on a clean surface, but also makes for a quick clean-up – simply leave all garbage on the tablecloth, grab by the ends, fold-up and carry away to the garbage.

Blanket: Sometimes the fall weather can leave the ground wet, so be sure to have a plastic tarp to put under your blanket.

Food and drinks: Many farm stands and orchards now serve food. Be sure to check ahead of time to see what goodies they have available, and pack food accordingly. Don’t forget the water!

Dress in layers: Fall is generally cool, but when you are active you may get warm. Therefore, it’s best to dress in layers and take off extra clothing as necessary.

Miscellaneous supplies: Be sure to bring plenty of cleaning wipes and napkins, as well as a basic first-aid kit – you never know when you’ll need them.

And last but not least, don’t forget your Bombinizz™. It’s the perfect carry-all for a variety of your on-the-go picnic needs.

Preparing for Outdoor Sports

“Fall is nearby and so are seasonal sports.   Whether team-based or individual, sports can provide a myriad of benefits for children besides physical activity.  Participating in sports helps build self-esteem and confidence, motivation to excel academically, and can assist in building social skills and friendships.  To help ensure fun for all, a little preparation goes a long way, especially as it pertains to outdoor sports.  Below are some tips to ensure a good time.”
Maria Rosell, Owner and Founder of Bombinizz™

From baseball to football, soccer to golf, field hockey to cheerleading, here are some tips for your next outdoor sporting event:

Food:  From participants to spectators, everyone gets hungry.  Be sure to have plenty of water, sports drinks, juice, trail mix, pretzels, crackers, fruit and even bagels on hand.

Weather protection:  Keep umbrellas, ponchos, blankets, extra clothes/socks/shoes, jackets, a tent, sun-block and hats stored in your car for easy access.

Sporting equipment and clothing:  Be sure to get a list of necessary supplies and clothing for your child’s specific sport.  Also, check with personnel at the sporting goods store to be sure you didn’t forget anything.

Miscellaneous items:  It’s always a good idea to have a first-aid kit, allergy medicine, insect repellant, towels, folding chair and cell phone close by.

Being prepared for outdoor sports can make the difference between a crying child and a happy child, and I think we can all agree that we prefer the latter.

And last but not least, don’t forget your Bombinizz™.  It’s the perfect carry-all for a variety of your on-the-go sporting needs.

Is Your Child Getting Enough Exercise?

“According to the CDC, children and adolescents should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. So as a parent, what can you do to help?  Follow these guidelines and encourage your child to participate in a variety of activities that are age-appropriate and enjoyable.”
Maria Rosell, Owner and Founder of Bombinizz®

The CDC recommends three types of physical activity:

Aerobic: This activity should make up most of the 60 minute requirement, and should be done at least three days per week.  Examples include brisk walking or running.

Muscle strengthening: Include activities such as gymnastics or push-ups, which should also be done at least three days a week.

Bone strengthening: Incorporate activities such as jumping rope or running, again, at least three days a week.

Good news is that many activities fall under more than one type of requirement.  Therefore, that allows your child to satisfy two more types of physical activity in just one day.  For example, if your child is on a basketball team  that practices daily, or takes gymnastics lessons, he/she is satisfying the aerobic and bone strengthening guideline.  More good news is that these activities can range from informal to active play to organized sports.

As a parent, you have the power to shape child’s attitudes and behaviors toward physical activity. Here are some ways you encourage that:

  • Lead by example…eat well and lead an active lifestyle
  • Incorporate physical activity…go for family walks or play active games together
  • Have fun…visit public parks or community baseball fields or basketball courts
  • Always play safe…provide protective equipment such as helmets, as well as wrist and knee pads

And last but not least, don’t forget your Bombinizz™ .  It’s the perfect carry-all for your on-the-go equipment and supplies needs.

Tips for Planning a Camping Trip

“Camping is a unique experience, and an ideal time to bond with family and friends.  However, even seasoned campers can make simple mistakes and forget to bring needed supplies.  Planning ahead and having a check-list is key for both experienced and new campers.”

Maria Rosell, Owner and Founder of Bombinizz®

bombinizz bags for camping Tips for Planning a Camping TripHere are some tips to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping experience:
