Where the concept of Bombinizz “The Pillow Carrier” came from:
Bombinizz was designed by a Mom who needed a large tote bag for her children’s sleepover needs.
“While preparing for my girls’ sleepover trip, I saw my three daughters struggling to fit their pillows, sleeping bags and pajamas into their travel bags. I thought ‘there’s got to be a better overnight bag.’ But I couldn’t find anything so I asked my mom, Betty, to sew something useful just using the fabric she had around the house. I sketched a rectangular bag with a long handle that was easy for children to carry.
My mom went to work and returned with four red bags. Each bag fit the girls’ pillows, and she even made a front pocket to put in their pj’s, toiletries and favorite small stuffed animals. The large tote bags were convenient, practical and lightweight. I thought ‘we’re onto something here, but the girls’ sleepover would be the test.’
My three daughters arrived at the sleepover and everyone commented on their great overnight bags. While other children were struggling with their things, my daughters were carrying their items with style and ease in their new large tote bags. Where the name Bombinizz “The Pillow Carrier“ came from:
“My family and I were all trying to think of a name for the children’s overnight bag. I was looking outside the window and saw a little bee flying about and automatically thought ‘Bees carry a pollen sack.’
In college I took Entomology so I ran to dig out my old books and looked up ‘bees’. I read that tribe name of the Bee is ‘Bombini’. I loved it! I asked my daughters if they liked the name and they agreed. It was unanimous! We added the ‘ZZ’ for the ZZ’s you catch when you sleep (and because if you listen there is a ZZZZ sound when a bee is flying near you).
We call it Bombini zzbecause you’ll carry your pillow in a sack like the bees carry their pollen, hence a versatile large tote, overnight pillow bag. And, we pronounce it “bom-BEAN-eez.”
